ELCA World Hunger
ELCA World Hunger is working toward a just world where all are fed.
One out of every 11 people — as many as 720 million — in our world are hungry. As members of the ELCA, we are called to respond. We are a church that rolls up our sleeves and gets to work.
ELCA World Hunger is uniquely positioned to accompany communities in need because we work with congregations in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as other partners and Lutheran churches overseas.
From health clinics to microloans, water wells to farm animals, community meals to advocacy, your gifts to ELCA World Hunger make it possible for the ELCA to respond, supporting sustainable solutions that get at the root causes of hunger and poverty.
Bear Creek Camp
Lifelong friendships, learned skills, opportunity for respite and retreat, and acceptance into a community that is welcoming and open to all. The discovery that happens at the end of the red dirt road can only be described as “life-changing” and has continued for generations thanks to the support and generosity of so many. Together we are Bear Creek Camp and together we are making a positive impact on the world.
Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network (PVEN)
Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network’s mission is to provide low-income families and families in crisis the essentials to maintain a dignified standard of living while encouraging independence and self-sufficiency.
The PVEN Community Service Center on Route 209 just outside Brodheadsville houses its Food Pantry and Clothing Closet, which provide free groceries, clothing, and social service referrals to residents of Chestnuthill, Eldred, Hamilton, Jackson, Ross and Polk townships in Monroe County, PA. As part of its mission to encourage independence and self-sufficiency, PVEN’s facility also provides operating space for other non-profit aid agencies to deliver services to the residents of the West End.
Lutheran World Relief
Faithful Lutherans have a long history of rushing aid to the front lines — near and far — when crisis strikes. From sending emergency supplies to delivering LWR Mission Quilts, their love has been reaching children, women and families in the direst situations. With their support, LWR will not abandon these neighbors now.
Their gifts deliver critically needed resources like medical care, food, water and essential supplies where they are needed most.
Lutheran Disaster Response
Lutheran Disaster Response shares God's hope, healing and renewal with people whose lives have been disrupted by disasters in the United States and around the world. When the dust settles and the headlines change, we stay to provide ongoing assistance to those in need. Help is supplied domestically for those impacted by flooding, hurricanes, tornados and wildfires. Internationally, help is given to assist with famines, drought, war torn areas and refugees
